Late April through May, or mid-September through mid-October. These shoulder months offer the best combination of pleasant weather (low-to-mid 80s°F on the Kona coast), significantly lower accommodation rates, and fewer crowds than the December–February peak or the summer family rush. The Merrie Monarch Festival in April is a cultural bonus. October is also ideal but coincides with the Ironman World Championship week, which temporarily spikes Kona-area prices and crowds around race day
